The pulse of the ever-changing ocean has left its rhythmic tattoo on my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the Caribbean, where sea and sky embrace in ecstatic dance. Later I came to structure my education, passion and livelihood around literally plunging beneath the waves, from majoring in dive management and photography at Barry University to leading tours and traveling solo to areas around the globe.

Inspired by all things nature and most particularly by the ocean, I have photographed and documented my experiences above and below the surface for over 30 years, embracing every aspect of diving and photography, often in the most remote locations. In 2019, I was honored to be inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame. You can visit this side of my professional world at Island Exposure.

Though it’s my duty to share my love for the sea in as many forms as I can, jewelry design comes naturally to me, and I have been designing and crafting high end jewelry from natural gems, ethnic beads and pearls for the better part of two decades. I thoroughly enjoy the process of creation, the final product and the joy of the end bearer.

The eco-chic style of jewelry I have created combines gems of the sea, pearls, and natural grade leather. Each piece is handcrafted and unique. But nothing has spoken as seductively to my clients and me as my work with the ocean’s own precious gem: the pearl. Fortunately my travels and contacts in the South Pacific and the Far East have allowed me to hand select every pearl I use, which I personally drill to my specifications. The leather cording I incorporate is free of toxins, and certified by both European and American standards.

I have strived to create a delicate balance of elegance, artistry and value with ocean inspired designs that can be dressed up or down. Most importantly, my jewelry is meant to be worn often, if not always. I wear my designs every day… even in the sea.

About Pearls

Pearls have been prized for their beauty and rarity for more than four thousand years. From ancient China, India, and Egypt, to Imperial Rome, to the Arab world, to Native American tribes, cultures from around the world and throughout recorded history have valued pearls longer than any other gem.

Pearls are the only gemstones grown inside of a living organism. There are approximately 8,000 different species of bi-valve mollusks, of which only about 20 are capable of consistently producing pearls. Natural pearls are extremely rare.

Nearly all pearls now are cultured. A cultured pearl is any pearl grown with the influence of human intervention.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Pearls are organic gemstones that are vulnerable to acid, alkaline and extremes of humidity. To preserve your pearls' radiance, avoid letting them come into contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Always put on your jewelry as a final touch, after applying make-up and styling hair. The pearl's luster can also be harmed by perspiration. To prevent this, before returning your pearls to the jewelry box, wipe them gently with a soft cloth.
